D&AK Farm is owned
and operated by my 9 year old daughter, Adalina, my wife Dawna and me, Eric.
We raise quality LaMancha, Nubian and Saanen dairy goats for milk and for
show. The most important thing to us at D&AK Farm is the health and
happiness of all our friends in the barn. In order to keep our herd
manageable we quite often have animals for sale. So if you see something you
are interested in feel free to inquire. We usually have doelings and
bucklings available in the spring. And periodically we have milking does or
dry yearlings. Our goats are all registered with the American Dairy Goat
Association. We have tested negative for CAE and CL. And we maintain a CAE
prevention program with our animals. We do our best to keep our animals
healthy and happy and strive to provide quality goat kids. We also sell goat
t-shirts and buttons. So check out our goat goodies page you never know you
might see something you like. We also have various other 4-H,environmetal,
and military buttons available linked from that page. Thank you for your
interest in our herd. If there is any questions you may have just ask and we
will be happy to answer them for you. |

We
have now been to the ADGA National show twice! This time proved to be as
good as the first. We took 12 goats and 9 of them made the cut in their
respective classes. Some highlights from the show were when Addy took 2nd
place Jr showman out of 18 youth. We had 3 Nubian Jr kids in the top
10 out of 40 (2nd, 6th, and 10th). I had the 7th place Saanen jr kid out
of 18 and the 12th place 2 year old Saanen milker out of like 32. This was
again a wonderful experience and I hope we can make it to Massachusetts in
2011. |

We
went to the ADGA Nationals for our first time in Louisville Kentucky. We
took 13 goats and 12 made the cut in their respective class. We were quite
pleased when our Saanen Senior Kid took 2nd place in a class of
21. Overall we are happy with how our goats did, it was a great experience
and a lot of fun (not to mention a lot of work!). |
We are very excited and
pleased to announce that we tested all our goats for CAE and CL. The
results are negative. All the goats at our farm are CAE and CL free,
Yippee! We are continuing to raise our kids on a CAE prevention plan by
hand raising our kids on pasteurized milk and being there for every
kidding possible. Periodically we will retest to assure that our herd
remains free of these. Also to anyone who has not tested but has been
thinking of it, this was our first time testing and we drew the blood
ourselves. I have to admit we were nervous about it, but after the first
few it was a piece of cake. It is relatively simple and saves you a lot of
money. You still have to pay the shipping and processing fees, but no vet
bill.
Here is a good site on learning to draw blood.
